OVERVIEW

Le Ver is a moody, atmospheric first person narrative driven game in which you take on the role of Remi, a depressed existentialist earthworm contemplating the meaning of his life as he explores the darkness below.

The game was created in Unity by a team of four student game developers in 72 hours for the Ludum Dare 29 Game Jam and received critical praise from the Ludum Dare community receiving high marks for Theme (5th), Audio (18th), Mood (25th) and Innovation (62nd), placing it 92nd Overall out of 1004 total Jam Entries.

The game also features a procedurally generated world in which the environment is created as needed based on the player’s actions.

PROJECT ROLE

I contributed to this project as a programmer and was also heavily involved in the production and selection of sound and music for the game. I also contributed as a writer and the voice used for the game’s narration.

PROJECT CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Developed a procedural world generation algorithm which generates a new world layout that dynamically adjusts itself as the player moves through the environment providing the illusion of an endless world to explore.
  • Developed a voice over management/subtitle display system from which sound clips can be selected and played alongside their subtitle text based on the game’s state.
  • Wrote, produced and edited the game’s audio dialog and subtitles text.
